BEATING HEART
Space at your fingertips

How to reconcile industrialized production, architectural quality and use for the inhabitant?

For the "new house of the best days" we propose a reflection on standardization and appropriation in order to create new ways of inhabiting or living space.

The principal part of the project is a technical core, a surprise box that hides in it all the fluids and vital elements (Kitchen, bathroom, toilet, water heater, pellet stove and a bed). Like a construction toy, by combination, the heart connects itself. The user is invited to explore, enter, climb : this is his playing field. Other modules containing additional living spaces and beds are grafted to this technical core. The diversity of possible combinations brings an answer to family situations, diverse lifestyles and organization.

1 Module = 1 person

2 Modules = 2 / 3 people

3 Modules = 3 / 4 people

4 Modules = 4 / 5 people

In this project, space constitutes a field of playful actions, a modular space that the users will be able to appropriate. Through the dialogue between building and furnishing, a room can become a living room, or an office, according to the desires and needs of the inhabitants. In a set of variables of position, mobility, stability, Object design and space design combine to offer new ways to inhabit space. The work of interaction by the furniture makes it possible to have versatile spaces while gaining space. The building is designed in dry structure : Wood framing, raw materials, visible joints. In this screen space, the OSB panels of 1,20x2,50m become regulating elements. They are left visible inside the modules, to keep the raw appearance and allow the inhabitants to take ownership of it. The technical module, the vital part of the construction, is red in order to intensify this notion of beating heart.
